The family lunch
The idea started out of boredom a few days ago on saturday. Basically my housekeeper has been making too spicy and gut-wrenching dishes, so i just thought to my self...hey i know how to cook, and so does every other member of my family (cooking it's like a right of passage for us, we learned how to boil an egg before we learned to walk). So why don't we actually cook just for fun instead of on special occasions like birthdays, parties, etc (usually the family cooks when something extra ordinary happens, cause the dishes that comes out of the kitchen during these times are mouth watering). So i suggested on sunday why don't we have a family lunch / BBQ and just cook for the heck of it. My dad also made plans to go to the botanical garden with me in the morning and just jog and do tai chi (dad's getting into all this healthy martial arts/ sports stuff) so we could burn of some fat before we indulge in a big family meal, not that our cooking was in anyways unhealthy ( i actually use low-fat stuff guys!). So the plan was set and that night we had our usual family saturday night movie marathon. and slept around 2 in the morning.Along came sunday morning, me and my dad actually managed to both wake up real early, which was a an amazing thing cause we both love to sleep in late. So here both of us dressed to exercise making our way down the stares...until we decided to sit on the couch and watch a little CNN ( hey it was like 6:45 in the morning and we thought we had time to burn). Next thing we know it was 10:05 and we had both fallen asleep in the living room (which was actually a funny site). My 8 year old sister had the pleasure of waking us up and she was very persistent and made sure the family lunch was going to be carried out as planned ( she is the most organized and CEO/ corporate type person in our family...next to my mom). So my dad, both of my sisters (yes i got two younger sisters), and me headed down to tesco (I got to drive my dads' Pajero! while he listened to one of his favorite Cd's). we bought all the ingredients we need and headed home for the lunch. So my dad readied the BBQ grill and started to cook, while i was the chef of the kitchen with my sisters being my helpful assistance. we had each person responsible for a different dish. My lil sis was in charge of the salad, while i got the ingredients ready to make Spaghetti. My other sis was in charge of making the baked Potatoes. Occasionally we would help each other out when it was needed ( i got to toss the salad!!)... the end result? A perfect lunch and everything made was cooked to perfection and basically everyone left the table extremely stuffed.
